Free Chicken Strips at Chick-Fil-A

On September 1, if you wear ANY football gear to Chick-Fil-A, you will receive a 3 piece Chick-N-Strips for FREE. Apparently, they have a new recipe and are eager to share. I'll be happy to oblige them...if I can find something football to wear.

Old Navy Sale

Old Navy is having a big back-to-school sale right now. The majority of their regularly priced kid's clothes (not toddler/infant) are on sale for 40% off. The toddler/infant apparel is also 25%-50% off on most regularly priced items. This sale is supposed to continue through August 31, 2008. As usual, their Clearance sections are pretty well stocked, too.

In addition to the sale prices, they are running their famous Stuff and Save promotion. Usually, to take advantage of this promotion, you have to take a bag with you to the store that you receive in the mail and you get an additional 20% off the lowest ticketed price on all the items you can stuff in the bag one time only. This time, though, all you have to do is show (and use) your Old Navy, Gap, or Banana Republic credit card and you receive the 20% discount on your entire purchase as many times as you like through August 21.

Another great promotion running right now goes a little something like this:

This is for online shopping obviously, but it's a great gimmick. In the past I have found a good deal on an item from Old Navy and maybe a little something from Gap, but didn't want to pay the shipping cost from both stores. Now I won't have to. For more details visit this website. Don't forget, if you have a UPromise account, to follow the link from their website when making your purchase to earn savings for your child's 529 account.

Help Odwalla plant a tree (or 5) for you

If you know anything about me, you know our family tries to be fairly green. Being green and being economical often don't go together, so whenever I find something like Odwalla's program, I get excited.

For more than 25 years, Odwalla has been commited to keeping the planet as healthy as they want to keep us. That's why all of their bottles are recyclable, they reduce waste by fully utilizing 99% of the 143 million pounds of citrus and other material that comes into our planet each year, and they suppport organic farming and land conservation. To find out more about these activities and much more visit their website by clicking here.

Here comes the really exciting part though. As part of Odwalla's ongoing commitment to the earth, they will plant trees for you in state parks. Visit this site and tell them in which of the 8 state park systems you want them to plant a tree. That's it! Simple! Nothing else! Nada! No names! No email! No strings! Zilch! Well, you get the picture. AND, they will plant up to 5 trees per family by going to the site 5 times through December 31, 2008.

Happy planting!

$5 off $25 Purchase at Babies R Us This Weekend ONLY

Click here for information of how to receive your coupon for $5 off $25 coupon for Babies R Us to use this weekend. Other great coupons are available as well.

Starbucks Deal

Starbucks is running a promotion that's great for those of us who actually, on occasion, make 2 visits to a Starbucks in the same day through September 2, 2008.

Make any purchase PRIOR TO 2 p.m. Bring your receipt in the same day AFTER 2 p.m. and receive a Grande cold drink for $2 plus tax at select US stores. Unfortunately, this is NOT available at the Barnes & Noble Starbucks locations.

So, here's my plan: Go to Starbucks at the mall a few minutes before 2 and order a short drip with room with a shot of vanilla. Yes, I said SHORT...it's the size they have that's smaller (and, therefore, cheaper) than the tall which is their small. And "drip with room" is code for coffee of the day with some room left for cream. After I finish that, I can go back to get one of their new Orange Mango Banana Non-Fat Vivannos (which has fewer calories and fewer grams of fat than the Chocolate Banana variety). Have you tried them? They are a great get-me-over-the hump snack with a fruit and protein boost, and it will only cost me $1.75. So, essentially, I will get a cup of coffee (caffeine boost) and a Vivanno (fruit and protein boost) for the price of a Vivanno alone.

Now, one more thing. If you pay for your coffee with a registered Starbucks card, you can get free refills of it (on the same day from the same location) and free add-ins (shot of soy, extra shot of espresso, syrup flavoring, etc.). As I mentioned earlier, I order my coffee with a shot of vanilla because it's free and because it sweetens my coffee to the point I can pass on sugar and, therefore, the extra calories.

P.S. Did I actually use the pretentious word "therefore" twice in a single post :). You betcha!

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program - Ends September 2

Here's How It Works:
  1. Kids read any 8 books.
  2. Kids download and complete the Summer Reading Journal to tell us their favorite part of each book. A parent/guardian signs it when it's complete.
  3. Children bring their completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between May 29th & September 2nd, 2008.
  4. We'll give them a coupon for a FREE book! They choose from a list of exceptional paperback titles.
Eligible books will be listed on the coupon. However, the free book choices offered to Madeleine when she completed her form included MANY not listed on the coupon. Choices must be made from eligible stock. No special orders. Limit of 1 form per school-age child (grades 1-6), please. Incomplete forms will be ineligible for free books.

Share A Haircut

From August 1st - 15th, every time anyone 18 years or younger gets a haircut at a Hair Cuttery, they'll donate a free haircut to a child in need in your community.
Through partnerships with local social service agencies and non-profit organizations, Hair Cuttery has donated over 380,000 haircuts since 1999. This year they'll be donating thousands more.
No, it's not for malnourished children in a third world country, but it's also nothing extra out of your pocket. If you are going to be getting your kids a back-to-school trim, find a Hair Cuttery location and get a little extra for your money.

RedBox

RedBox kiosks are popping up everywhere! Have you heard of them?

You can rent a movie for just $1. That's it!! $1 You rent a movie and return it by 9 p.m. the next day and all you pay is $1. Anyone else tired of being ripped off by the mega-video rental stores? The movies stocked in the kiosks are mostly new releases. You can never guarantee exactly what will be offered or what will be in stock, but I have always been able to get something I'd be interested in watching. Click here to find a location near you.

To make this deal even sweeter (yes, it's possible), sign up (on the right side of the page) to receive email updates here and you will receive a code in your inbox every Monday for a FREE rental. Now we're talking! "Free" is much more up my alley. Did I actually insinuate that I don't like paying $1 for a movie rental? You betcha!
